Munich — In the sale of its medical division to the Texas medical device manufacturer Orthofix Medical Inc. WITTENSTEIN SE was advised by Rödl & Partner. Orthofix Medical is thus taking over the FITBONE® and FITSPINE® medical product portfolio of WITTENSTEIN subsidiary WITTENSTEIN intens GmbH.
As a certified supplier, WITTENSTEIN intens GmbH develops, produces and sells intelligent implants for orthopaedics and traumatology as well as controllable mechatronic drive systems for medical technology.
During a transitional phase of approximately two years, production will initially remain at the current Igersheim site and only sales will be handled centrally by Orthofix Medical. The sale will not affect the employment contracts of the affected employees of WITTENSTEIN intens GmbH. — In addition to responsibility for employees, WITTENSTEIN’s primary focus in the transaction with Orthofix was to secure existing relationships with specialist clinics and patients.
With the introduction of the FITBONE® System, Orthofix Medical becomes the only medical device manufacturer in the orthopedic field to offer a comprehensive portfolio of internal and external limb lengthening solutions.
In the context of the transaction, WITTENSTEIN was supported by a specialized and cross-disciplinary transaction team from Rödl & Partner as advisors on legal and tax transaction issues.
