Düsseldorf — ARQIS advised BME Group on the acquisition of Mahler Group — a leading building materials and tile distributor in Bavaria. The share sale is still subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities and is expected to be completed in the course of 2021.
BME is one of the leading building materials trading companies in Europe and is active in Germany in the sale of building materials under the brands Bauking (general building materials trading) and Paulsen Gruppe, Detering, Bergmann & Franz (all sanitary, heating and installation trading). With the acquisition of the Mahler Group, Bauking will expand its presence to southern Germany.
The Mahler Group comprises the brands Bauwaren Mahler, Mahler Bayerische Bauwaren, Mahler Fliesen & Glasbau and Hillari Fliesencenter. The group has a network of five branches and employs a total of 273 people.
The ARQIS focus group Transactions around Dr. Jörn-Christian Schulze advised BME for the second time. When Detering was acquired in the summer of 2020, it was the first time the team worked for the then newly formed BME Group. Previously, ARQIS had already completed the acquisitions of the Paulsen Group and the Bergmann & Franz Group for the former parent company CRH plc. accompanied
