Munich — The Munich-based industrial holding ADCURAM Group has sold its stake in the WOUNDWO Group, based in Graz, Austria. The acquirer is the Paris-based listed industrial group SFPI Group. ADCURAM has accompanied WOUNDWO intensively over the past years, repositioned it and successfully developed it further. Together with the management, the turnover could be increased by more than 50% during this time and the innovative strength could be significantly strengthened. The transaction, the details of which have been agreed not to be disclosed, is still subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities and is expected to be completed by the end of July.
WOUNDWO was founded in 1952 as a trading company in Graz, Austria, and is today a renowned quality supplier of sun protection solutions with 60 million euros in sales and around 310 employees. WOUNDWO holds a market-leading position in Austria and is also active in France, Germany and Switzerland as well as other countries. The product portfolio of the traditional company includes awnings, external venetian blinds, roller shutters, insect screen products and interior privacy and sun protection systems. As an international supplier of high-quality products ‘made in Austria’, WOUNDWO addresses the current megatrends of outdoor living, sustainability and energy efficiency in the growth market of sun protection.
ADCURAM acquired WOUNDWO at the end of 2015. Since then, a strategy for internationalization has been implemented with a focus on markets bordering Austria. At the same time, WOUNDWO’s expertise in textile shading systems was further expanded and anchored in the market. With the establishment of an experienced, powerful management team, it was possible to continuously implement process optimizations and consolidate production at three production sites in Austria and the Czech Republic. Further development steps in terms of product portfolio and additional international growth are also planned.
“As a market-leading company in Austria, especially in the area of awnings, WOUNDWO was already excellently positioned at the time of our investment in 2015. Together with the management, we have succeeded in setting up the company for sustainable success internationally as well. Our operational support has created the conditions for further growth,” explains ADCURAM partner Dr. Philipp Gusinde (photo © ADCURAM). Jochen Engelke, member of the advisory board of WOUNDWO, adds: “WOUNDWO is an agile, innovative company with a strong team. We are very happy to have found a partner in the SFPI Group that is as entrepreneurial as it is innovative and has a lot of experience in the sun protection sector. We wish our colleagues at WOUNDWO all the best on their continued growth path.”
“Over the past years, ADCURAM has positioned WOUNDWO as a major player in the Austrian sun protection market with high commitment, detailed business understanding and strategic skills. This has been a great time for the company and for us as managing directors. Now we are looking forward to developing WOUNDWO into the next phase of the company with the SFPI Group as a strong, strategic investor,” explain Alexander Foki and Wolfgang Kuss, managing directors of WOUNDWO.
