Buy and build: HQIB acquires Virion\Serion
Frankfurt am Main — A team from the law firm HEUKING has advised Harald Quandt Industriebeteiligungen GmbH (HQIB) on the acquisition of Institut Virion Serion GmbH and its Chinese joint venture (Virion\Serion). Virion\Serion has been active in the development, manufacture and distribution of in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) for the diagnosis of viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases for over 45 years. As a global supplier, the company offers both raw materials and diagnostic products. These are used by over 400 customers, mainly laboratories and research institutes, in more than 100 countries.
HQIB acquired Virion\Serion with the aim of further developing the medium-sized company in the long term. The main focus is on the further expansion of the raw materials area and further internationalization. With the help of HQIB’s financial resources and expertise, strategic acquisitions of complementary technologies and product groups should further accelerate growth. The management team around CEO Dr. Judith Stürmer will remain with Virion\Serion beyond the transaction.
