Bayern Kapital invests again in Hololight in Series B round of €14.4 million
Munich/Durham/Innsbruck — Hololight, a leading specialist in AR and VR solutions for the enterprise market, has successfully closed a Series B financing round of EUR 11.4 million. Led by European growth investor Flatz Hoffmann and existing investors Bayern Kapital (via the Bayern 2 growth fund), EnBW New Ventures and Future Energy Ventures, this brings the company’s total investment to around EUR 25 million. The company intends to use the newly acquired capital to further develop its XR streaming platform “Hololight Hub”.
Hololight was founded in 2015 and has been doing pioneering work in the field of AR/VR ever since. As a proven industry-tested enterprise streaming platform in the immersive and XR (virtual and augmented reality) market with over 150 renowned customers such as BMW, Nokia and Amazon Web Services, Hololight has set the benchmark for XR streaming. In the age of digital transformation, the technology has great potential in various sectors.
Hololight Hub enables global availability and easy deployment of XR applications. Companies use this to improve their industrial processes in product development, manufacturing, training or service. This supports companies in setting up future-proof XR infrastructures and promotes new forms of collaboration and digital workflows in 3D. With the new investment, Hololight aims to further develop the XR streaming platform and gain additional customers in its key industries such as automotive, aerospace, engineering and many more.
Impressive growth and forward-looking vision
Hololight’s platform addresses the great need for streaming in times of spatial computing and industrial XR and effectively addresses the core challenges that arise in industrial scenarios, especially with regard to data management, processing and security aspects. Over the years, Hololight has worked hard to develop and refine its own streaming technology, which is now at the heart of its enterprise streaming platform. Hololight Hub brings a significant transformation to the Extended Reality (XR) experience by helping to increase the quality, accessibility and security of immersive content, as well as simplifying management and delivery.
Florian Haspinger, CEO of Hololight, explains: “As a pioneer in the field of XR streaming for companies, we aim to stream every XR app via our Hololight Hub. In doing so, we want to help companies overcome the hurdles of using immersive technologies. Our approach not only offers improved data security and infrastructure flexibility, but also enables true-to-life XR experiences and global availability — all in a highly cost-effective way.”
The recent expansion into the US, with the opening of an office in the Triangle Technology Center in Durham in 2022, signals Hololight’s ambitions to further expand its global presence.
“Hololight impressively demonstrates the innovative strength of European companies in the XR sector. Its ability to assert itself on the global market reflects the strength and potential of European technology leaders,” says Monika Steger, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital. ”
Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, adds: “Companies like Hololight benefit from a dynamic innovation landscape, as is the case here in Bavaria. Hololight’s pioneering developments in the field of augmented reality (XR) are setting standards for product designs and constructions of the future. With the Growth Fund Bavaria 2, we support such companies in successfully navigating through decisive growth phases. In this way, we are further expanding Bavaria’s position as a leading location for high-tech innovations.”
