Düsseldorf/Munich — McDermott Will & Emery has advised the European production and distribution studio Vuelta Group on the acquisition of the Munich-based distribution and production company Telepool. Vuelta is acquiring Westbrook’s shares on behalf of its German subsidiary SquareOne.
The integrated company will operate under the name SquareOne in future. The acquisition comprises a rights catalog of over 1,200 titles, including box office hits such as Drive, Pretty Best Friends, The Imitation Game, King Richard and Transporter 3. Telepool has been wholly owned by Westbrook Inc. since 2018. by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
The Vuelta Group is represented outside Germany in Scandinavia by the production company Scanbox, in France by Playtime and Pan and in Italy by Indiana Productions.
McDermott already advised on the acquisition of SquareOne Entertainment GmbH for the then newly founded Vuelta Group in 2023 and has advised on all of the Group’s European acquisitions to date.
