Munich, January 2020 — Afinum Achte Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG, advised by Afinum Management GmbH, indirectly acquires a majority stake in Swiss Interconnect Holding SA (“LEMCO PRECISION”). Together with entrepreneur and long-time CEO André Rezzonico, who will remain a minority shareholder after the transaction, Afinum aims to continue the growth of recent years by expanding its business in core international markets and broadening its product range to include even smaller diameter contacts. LEMCO PRECISION (www.lemco-precision.ch) manufactures contacts for data transmission and current flow that are small in diameter, high in complexity and suitable for highly demanding application environments. Because the company guarantees the highest quality and zero-defect tolerance, the contacts are used in highly function-critical electronics in areas such as commercial aviation, non-automotive transportation, aerospace, defense, telecommunications, industrial and other applications. Over the past two decades, the company has been able to build very stable relationships with the major connector manufacturers in North America and Europe. In addition, acquisitions have been completed and competencies built up in recent years to gain complete control of the value chain, from the development of a contact to surface treatment or various other additional services. The company holds a strong position in a market that is expected to continue to grow rapidly based on the trends of an increasing number of end-use applications, an increasing density of electronics per application, and a surge in data traffic and power flow per electronic equipment.
LEMCO PRECISION was founded in 1965 and acquired in 1995 by CEO André Rezzonico together with a group of investors. Headquartered in Monthey, French-speaking Switzerland, the Group employs approximately 235 people and will generate sales of approximately 56 MCHF in 2019. By focusing on an attractive market segment and building up highly automated production facilities, the company has succeeded in growing rapidly and profitably in recent years. Afinum and André Rezzonico aim to address the next phase of growth by building on long-standing customer relationships, strengthening the international business, expanding the product range to include small diameter contacts, and increasing the capacity and efficiency of the production facilities in Switzerland as well as worldwide.
The investment in LEMCO PRECISION is the eighth platform investment of Afinum Achte Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG.
