Munich — Norton Rose Fulbright has advised mobility budget startup MOBIKO GmbH on a financing round by Swiss insurance group Baloise. Baloise invests a seven-figure sum in MOBIKO. In addition to Baloise and the existing investors Audi Business Innovation GmbH and mantro GmbH, the startup Family Office based in Weingarten is also involved in the financing round.
The startup company MOBIKO (short for mobility quota) offers employers a monthly flexible digital mobility budget for all employees. With this tool, each employee uses his or her budget individually and is rewarded for environmentally friendly mobility behavior. MOBIKO was developed by Audi Business Innovation together with the Munich-based company mantro and spun off as an independent GmbH in 2018.
Audi Business Innovation GmbH (ABI) is a wholly owned subsidiary of AUDI AG and focuses on the development and implementation of digital concepts and products. ABI provides reliable IT platforms for AUDI AG and the Volkswagen Group.
mantro GmbH, based in Munich, supports medium-sized companies and corporations in the development of new digital business models. With more than 16 years of experience and 28 founded ventures, mantro has become a specialist for digitalization and company building.
The Startup Family Office builds up young companies with venture capital and active support from experienced entrepreneurs from medium-sized businesses in a targeted manner and supports founders holistically, effectively and sustainably in the development of innovative solutions.
“The concept of MOBIKO convinced us, as it can change the mobility of companies and their employees in a sustainable way. With MOBIKO’s mobility budget, employers can cover the individual needs of their employees and consider all mobility solutions. This maximum flexibility, combined with incentives, leads to significantly more environmentally friendly mobility behavior,” says Patrick Wirth (photo), Head of Mobility Unit at Baloise. The Swiss insurance group Baloise employs around 7,700 people and is among the top 5 Swiss insurers for private individuals and companies. Baloise was founded in 1863 and generates annual sales of approximately CHF 9 billion. Core markets are Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg.
