Berlin — Accel has participated in the Series C financing round of Berlin-based logistics start-up sennder together with other co-investors. Accel had already invested in digital freight forwarding for the first time in the spring as part of its Series B financing round.
The startup currently has around 150 employees and is active not only in Germany but also in Italy, Spain and the Benelux countries. In recent months, Sennder has grown significantly and this is expected to continue. In September, new branches will be opened: in Madrid and Wroclaw, and in Milan. In Italy, Sennder has launched a cooperation with Poste Italiane. International expansion will be just as much a focus in the coming months as the further development of the technology. Sennder should then generate one billion euros in sales in four years, explained co-founder David Nothacker.
Founders David Nothacker, Julius Köhler, Nicolaus Schefenacker (photo from right) have raised $100 million this year alone. Already in April, the well-known US VC Accel had provided $30 million. Led by Swiss-German VC Lakestar, another $70 million is now flowing into Sennder’s coffers. Siemens startup Next47 is a new entrant in the round, as is Italian family office H14. Existing investors HV Holtzbrinck Ventures, Project A and Scania Growth Capital also participated in the round.
