Frankfurt a.M. - Gleiss Lutz partners strengthen M&A practice with Dr. Andreas Löhdefink (photo), previously M&A partner at Shearman & Sterling, as partner. The exact date of the change has not yet been determined. With the addition of Andreas Löhdefink, Gleiss Lutz is expanding its Financial Institutions practice with Dr. Rainer Loges and Dr. Jan Balssen, as well as its general M&A team, following the partner appointment of Dr. Tobias Harzenetter (focus: insurance).
Andreas Löhdefink joined Shearman & Sterling in Frankfurt in 2010, where he became a partner in January 2014. He has a focus in M&A for financial institutions and insurance companies and is co-head of Shearman’s global Insurance Group. IFLR 1000 names Andreas Löhdefink as a ‘Highly Regarded Practitioner’ for Corporate/M&A, JUVE recommends him as a lawyer for M&A.
Andreas Löhdefink on his move: “Of course, the decision is not easy for me, as many professional and personal connections have been made at Shearman over the years. But Gleiss Lutz’s extraordinary reputation and strategic focus open up opportunities for me to develop my own practice in M&A and in
Financial Institutions area to develop further in a great environment.”
Dr. Alexander Schwarz, Co-Managing Partner of Gleiss Lutz, commented: “We are very pleased to have gained a renowned M&A partner in Andreas Löhdefink. He is an excellent fit for our team and will significantly advance our M&A practice with his focus on financial institutions, a strategically promising area.”
